Raita / Yogurt and Vegetable Salad
RAITA ~ Yogurt-based mildly-spiced salad
An extremely simple but unparalleled side to any spicy / full-of-flavor mixed rice dish like biriyanis, tomato rice, etc! It perfectly compliments the spices in the main dish with its tangy and mild yogurt-base.
Serves: 2 – 3
Ingredients:
- Chopped vegetables of your choice (cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, carrots are all good choices – I prefer the cucumber & tomato combination personally) – 1 cup
- Plain yogurt / curd – 1 cup
- Roasted Cumin / Jeera powder – 1 tsp or to taste (optional)
- Chopped green chilies – 2 or 3
- Salt to taste
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Method:
- Add all the ingredients to a large bowl and mix well. Add water, if needed, to adjust the consistency of the raita to your preference.
- Sprinkle some cumin powder for garnishing.
Serve chilled!
