Meet Aish

Welcome to AishCooks. I am Aish. And I like to cook. Well, you must have already figured that part out.

Thanks to my hubby D, and my two little boys A & V, I have more than enough reason to cook. D loves good food, and only really really good food. A is, well, hmm… getting started and to say the least, I am hopeful (2020 update: A has blossomed into a wonderful little budding chef himself.. and little V knows how to enjoy good food too!).

Have you ever wondered how someone can look forward to doing something that they do day in and day out, more than at least once a day and have been doing for as long as they can remember? This quote from Voltaire says just enough to make sense –

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity.

What God had to do with it or not is a discussion I am not prepared for.. but you get the idea!

With cooking, and most other things, I believe that success is a great motivator. Had my very first dish been a disaster I may not have attempted another one until it was out of necessity to feed an empty belly. And that is why the key vision I have for this blog is to make sure the recipes on it can help you get it right – always. You can count on me to never post a recipe that I haven’t myself tried following step-by-step and making sure it turns out just right. Whether it is having to mix-and-match mom’s biryani recipe with paaty’s and athai’s and then making one that tastes better than them all (:P) or simply experimenting with 3 or 4 different ways to make that naan before I find the perfect one that never fails to impress every single time – it is all done so you get it right the very first time. Isn’t that the best reason why you would want to try another recipe out here?

So while you’re here, let’s get acquainted and make some good food while the endless musings keep you company!

PS: I’d love to hear from you what you think of my food blog and the recipes… it would mean a lot if you did have something to say. You can write to me at aishwariya.bhavan@gmail.com!
